Suniel Shetty's Tribute To Real Life Hero He Played In Border: "Rest In Power"

 


Bollywood star Suniel Shetty has mourned the demise of Naik (retd) Bhairon Singh Rathore, the legend of the Longewala fight during the 1971 conflict, who the entertainer depicted on screen in Line (1997). Rathore, a BSF veteran of the 1971 India-Pakistan war whose boldness at Rajasthan's Longewala post was portrayed in JP Dutta's hit film, passed on in Jodhpur on Monday. He was 81.

"Rest in Power Naik Bhairon Singh Ji. Genuine sympathies to the family," Suniel Shetty tweeted on Monday night.

Rathore was sent at the Longewala post in the Thar desert of Jaisalmer, directing a little BSF unit of six to seven staff that was joined by a 120 men organization of the Military's 23 Punjab regiment. It was the boldness of these men that obliterated an attacking Pakistani unit and tank regiment at this area on December 5, 1971.


He got the Sena Decoration in 1972 for his courageous activity. Posted with the fourteenth BSF force during the conflict, Rathore resigned from administration in 1987.
